Alan Philip

  • Biography: Alan is a retired cartographer, passionate about hiking, biking, canoeing and food. He got involved with CGC to support his local food habit and help produce the Food Security Map. He loves the Cowichan Valley and is excited about CGC's contributions to making it even better.

  • Alison Garnett

    Alison Garnett

  • Biography: Ali may be new to CGC this year, but she has spent much of her life and has deep family roots in the Cowichan Valley. She shares with CGC a passion for how our food and communities are growing. Plus she figures that eating great food among great company is key to fuelling this commitment. Ali works as a land use planner in the Valley.

  • Alistair MacGregor

    Alistair MacGregor

  • Biography: Except for a number of years living in Victoria for university, Alistair has lived in the Cowichan Valley since he was in grade 5. He has travelled extensively, is a retired tree planter with 8 seasons of experience, holds a Master’s degree from RRU, and currently works for Nanaimo-Cowichan’s Member of Parliament, where he learned about the wonderful work of the CGC.

  • Amy Luck

    Amy Luck

  • Biography: Amy transplanted from Tasmania to the Cowichan Valley three years ago and she has been captivated by the food, the environment and the people who live here ever since. Amy runs a small business and her current passions include travelling, organic farming, yoga, and her sheep. She is both excited and delighted to be a part of the CGC!

  • Beverly Suderman

    Beverly Suderman

  • Biography: Beverly is a land use planner, passionate about supporting communities in their pursuit of sustainable community development. She got involved with CGC was as part of the volunteer team that developed the Cowichan Valley Food Security Action Plan. As a dedicated foodie, she appreciates the side benefits of food security work!

  • Josh Heath

    Josh Heath

  • Biography: Josh moved to the Duncan in 2001 and instantly fell in love with the Cowichan Valley! Josh is passionate about building resilient and vibrant community, increasing food security and improving local green economics. Josh, a retired tree planter, has a Business Degree and has worked as a real estate agent for the past six years.

  • Kate Miller

    Kate Miller

  • Biography: Kate has been a resident in the Cowichan Valley for the past twenty five years when she moved to Samsum Narrows and fell in love with the community and landscapes. Kate has been involved in a wide range of community based activities from recycling to farm maps in her volunteer life. At work, Kate is a environmental and natural resource planner currently working for the CVRD where she is the Manager of Environmental Policy.

    Kelly Hays

  • Biography: Kelly is a local food advocate who would rather ride his bicycle then drive or walk. Spending most of his day working on the computer, he loves spending weekends farming and fermenting foods. With his knowledge about the internet and interest in design, he loves to help organizations step it up a bit with their online communication.

  • Sarah Mathison

    Sarah Mathison

  • Biography: Long-time Valley resident, lover of gardens, nature, critters, kids. Motors almost everywhere in her power wheelchair, is trying her hand at the Warmland community garden accessible garden beds. Was raised on lighthouses and spent time in the Gulf Islands, Brazil and the Yukon, will happily tell you about growing things in these very different places. She wants a reliable supply of fresh organic food for everyone everywhere, especially Vancouver Island, where we have a chance to save our glorious stocks of salmon from extinction as well!
