Preservation Workshop #2: Canning Fruits and Vegetables
Learn how to can fruits and vegetables. You will get hands on with preparing the canning equipment and produce, then canning the produce. You will get to take home some canning and some recipes.
When: Thursday September 2, 2010 from 10:00am to 1:00pm
Cost: $15.00 for CGC members and $20.00 for non-members.

In this class we will:
- Talk about the importance of preparing your equipment (canner, jars, rims, lids).
- Prepare fruits and vegetables and syrup/liquid.
- Put prepared fruits and vegetables into jars.
- Put prepared jars into the hot water bath.
- Removing jars from water bath and check.
- Discuss how to store home canned products.
Hands on we will:
- Prepare canning equipment (canner, jars, rims, lids, lifter).
- Prepare fruits and vegetables.
- Prepare syrup/liquid for the fruits and vegetables.
- Fill jars with produce and liquid.
- Apply lids and rims.
- Put prepared jars into the hot water bath and let process.
- Removing jars from water bath and check.
- Allow jars to cool.
Take home:
- At least one jar of canning.
