Preservation Workshop #3: Canning – Jams and Jellies
Learn how to can jams and jellies. You will get hands on with preparing the canning equipment and produce, cooking the produce, and then canning the produce. You will get to take home some canning and some recipes.
When: Tuesday September 7, 2010 from 10:00am to 1:00pm
Cost: $15.00 for CGC members and $20.00 for non-members.

In this class we will:
- Prepare fruits and vegetables and other ingredients.
- Put prepared product into jars.
- Put prepared jars into the hot water bath.
- Removing jars from water bath and check.
- Discuss how to store home canned products.
Hands on we will:
- Prepare canning equipment (canner, jars, rims, lids, lifter).
- Prepare fruits and vegetables.
- Prepare other ingredients that mix with the produce.
- Fill jars with the product.
- Apply lids and rims.
- Put prepared jars into the hot water bath and let process.
- Removing jars from water bath and check.
- Allow jars to cool.
Take home:
- At least one jar of canning.
