City Repair is an organization that educates and inspires communities and individuals to transform the places they live. Through creative and ecological-oriented place-making, City Repair honours and improves the connection between human communities and the natural world. City Repair has built over a hundred remarkably diverse ecological prototypes for community gathering and sustainable culture.
City Repair began in Portland, Oregon with the idea that localization - of culture, of economy, of decision-making - is a necessary foundation of sustainability. By reclaiming urban spaces to create community-oriented places, we plant the seeds for greater neighborhood communication, empower our communities and nurture our local culture.

In addition to having co-founded City Repair, Mark is also a partner of Comunitecture, a creative design firm committed to the emergence of a thriving and sustainable cultural landscape. Comunitecture seeks to make every design project one which will further the development of a community vision, whether it involves urban design and place-making, ecological building, encouraging community interaction, or assisting those who typically do not have access to design services. Mark’s leadership in Communitecture, and its non-profit affiliate The City Repair Project, has benefited communities across North America.
Location: Comeakin House at the Quw'utsun' Conference and Cultural Centre (200 Cowichan Way). Entrance to this event is by donation. Suggested donation is $10 at the door.
