Tour de Charter
The Cowichan Green Community and the Cowichan Food Security Coalition are thrilled to present the newly revised Cowichan Food Charter to the community.
A food charter is a statement of values and principles to guide a community’s decision making and orient council policy towards building local food security. A growing number of municipalities across BC - including Saanich, Vancouver, Salmon Arm, and Kaslo – have officially adopted their own food charters, thereby firmly stating that food, health, and the environment are connected, and that they are integral to the wellbeing of the community.
The Cowichan Food Charter is currently touring around the Cowichan Valley, enticing local governments, organizations and people to sign on. Here is a list of all the governments and organizations that have signed the Charter:
- Jean Crowder, MP Naniamo Cowichan
- Bill Routley, MLA for Cowichan Valley
- Cowichan Valley Regional District
- City of Duncan
- District of North Cowichan
- Town of Lake Cowichan
- Town of Ladysmith
- Cowichan Agricultural Society
- Transition Cowichan
- Cittaslow Cowichan Bay
- Malahat First Nation
