What is Home
Cowichan Green Community is very pleased to be joining with the Cowichan Intercultural Society in their very exciting initiative: Welcome: Activating Our Stories - Creating our Home.
CIS has gathered 30 community leaders—artists, facilitators, non-profit service workers, and government representatives from across the Cowichan Region—who are coordinating multiculturalism projects which will inspire community members to participate in civic actions.
These 30 have committed to learning how to incorporate the Arts and Dialogue to create exciting, fun, contemplative, mind-altering projects in 11 of the communities of the Cowichan Region.

CGC will be involved along with several other community members, to create a spectacular project in Crofton.
Our particular project will encompass partnering with a fabulous organization in Crofton, “Activities Unlimited of Cowichan Valley” who are responsible for the creation of the beautiful Foxglove Community Gardens.
We are going to hold a “Crofton Community Celebration”, bringing together an amazing array of folks who are going to help create a wonderful garden celebration on May 29th from 1-4pm.
The event will include:
- lots of gardening tips and advice,
- multi-cultural cooking classes,
- food demos and tasting,
- storytelling and storycatching,
- children’s activities and games,
- art projects such as creating prayer flags,
- compost unit workshop and demonstration
- seedling sale
- music and entertainment.
There will also be an opportunity to discuss renting your own community garden plot with the folks who run the garden!
